Health and Safety

Health and Safety is of prime importance to The Recruitment Place. We ask all of our temporary workers to take Health and Safety seriously and follow this simple guide:

  • When you are offered an assignment through The Recruitment Place we will give detailed information about the job, the duties involved, any safety clothing or equipment required, and any risks to health and safety and the steps the client has taken to prevent or control these risks. If you know of any medical reason why the assignment may not be suitable for you to undertake, you must inform your Consultant. Please do not accept an assignment if you are aware that it may not be medically advisable.
  • If your role changes significantly during your assignment, you must let The Recruitment Place know.
  • When you start an assignment you should be given some basic health and safety training by the company you are working with. This will normally include information such as the location of exits and fire extinguishers, the name of the First Aider / Appointed Person and the procedures for evacuation. If you do not receive this information, or if you do not understand something you are told, you must ask.
  • Be aware of Fire Notices - take note of fire evacuation procedures, fire fighting equipment and fire exits at your workplace and all hazard / warning signs displayed on the premises. Do not obstruct fire escapes, fire equipment or doors. Keep doors shut. Observe smoking rules. Do not allow rubbish to accumulate. - dispose of waste.
  • In some environments you may need safety clothing or equipment. You must wear any protective clothing and use the equipment you have been told to use throughout the duration of your assignment. If your job requires certain equipment or clothing and it is not available, you must ask for it to be provided – do not work without it.
  • Do not operate any equipment unless trained and authorized to do so, and do not deviate from the correct method of using this equipment. If the role involves lifting, do not left anything if you think it is too heavy for you. Ask someone to assist you. Then, take a firm grasp of the object, bend your knees and bend down to lift the object.
  • If you receive any injury (even minor) you must report the incident, see the company First Aider, and ensure the details are logged in an Accident Book.
  • Be responsible and aware of everything happening around you. Do not take part in horseplay or practical jokes.
  • If you have any concerns about health and safety or believe there to be hazards in the workplace you are assigned to, you should make both the company and The Recruitment Place aware of the hazard so that it can be rectified.
  • We hope you enjoy working with The Recruitment Place. It is important to us that you are happy and safe in your assignment – please contact us if there is anything we can do to help you.
